conserve mobile data by turning email sync off???

I read an article about how to conserve mobile data by turning the email sync off. However, there is not an option to go to menu after settings/apps/email. Under email, it's either adding an account or going to gmail account. BTW, I have Huawei Union

Thanks

I read an article
Try and find the article and post a link to it.

In the meantime here are 8 things you can try. #8 looks like it allows you to turn off auto-sync and gmail is one of the apps showing in the screen shot.
I have VirginMobile but I don't use an email app and I don't sync anything. (I have a Samsung, not a Huawei phone). I also don't download mail to my phone.

I'll look at my phone and see what I can figure out.
I too see nothing like menu after Settings/apps/email so the directions might have been written for an earlier version of android.

I tap on email and since I've never used it, under App settings, I have Notifications blocked and under Permissions No permission allowed.
Then I tapped more settings and I have to add an account - because I never set one up.

Next I tapped on Gmail. Notifications are blocked, No permissions are allowed and Set as default is set to None.

If you are concerned that you are using too much data (I have 5GB a month which I never use) try this.
1. In Settings, tap on Connections
2. Tap on Data usage
3. Tap on Limit mobile data usage and you can also turn on Alert me about data usage.

Under all of that, there is a heading By Application. I see two applications. If your email is under that. Perhaps you can edit something that way.

I am trying to follow your instruction above but i got confused where "Email" was you tapped? You said App settings, but I tapped App settings and email, there is no Notifications.
I tried to follow the directions from your link and got as far as here:
Email
Your phone checks for email regularly, which uses mobile data. Be sure it is only checking for email when needed:
  1. From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  2. Tap Email.
  3. Tap Menu.
  4. Tap Settings.
I tap the All apps icon and there is no email to tap. I can select gmail or I can select Samsung mail. Since I never use either, I'd have to set something up before I can go any further.

I tapped App settings and email, there is no Notifications.
Here do you mean Settings then Applications then email?
Here's what I see - note notifications at the bottom.
