Connection Depression

510 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  TerryNet
Recently added Win 7/64 to a stable Win 7/32 machine in a dual boot config. Win 7/64 is AOK. Win 7/32 will not connect, gives "invalid ip config" error message. Have tried all the usual fixes with no joy. Released and renewed ip, winsock, and firewall. Uninstalled and reinstalled adapter and driver. No dice. Any suggestions appreciated.

Win 7/32 will not connect
Did that begin with the very first boot to the 32-bit Windows after booting to the 64-bit installation?

Have you made sure that you have the latest correct (32-bit) network driver installed? From where did you get it?

What (brand and model) is the network adapter?

Problem solved. Thank you. Adapter is Intel i217v. Issue arose at first boot after 7/64 installation. Apparently the motherboard installation disk from which I loaded the drivers included a helper program that had to be uninstalled in addition to the driver before the re-installation of the driver would complete, although there was no indication of this. When I used Intel's (not the Asus-provided driver) latest driver installation package, it notified me of the helper program uninstall requirement. I'm probably not explaining this well, but thanks to you, all is well.
You're welcome. :)
