Hello, I am wondering if there is any way I can connect to America Online (DSL) without loading the STUPID america online browser. I would like to just use IE to browse, but be connected to america online. Is this possible to do without loading the aol browser?

I don't know if you can do it without loading the browser, but when I was stuck with AOL dial-up for a while I would minimize the browser after dialing up and use IE for surfing and OE for e-mail...

I can also do that, but I hate wasting stupid space with the aol browser there.

I have AOL DSL, cant we connect some other way?

EX. Playing online games, I cant always get a lag free game with my browser open, if it were closed but I were still connected to the internet I would do fine.

Hate to seem rude, but ANYBODY is better than AOL. IMHO, just look around. If you need a CD to install, forget it. I know of no other that controls to the extent of AOL.

I would also avoid Compuserve (owned by AOL), Prodigy, and any other ISP that loads a bunch of unecessary garbage. Check with your local phone company for DSL availability, or with your cable company for cable internet service...

Can you try changing Default Browser in Tools | Internet Options | Programs

Enable Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default web browser

or won't AOL allow you to do that? I don't know, because I've never used AOL
