Hello

We have a Windows 2000 server (dual 3.4 1gb 1tb etc.) that i am running the indexing services on (for 1 shared directory, for now). I have 10 client machines, mostly running XP pro, some 2000, that i would like to connect the search function in Windows Explorer to the indexing service on the server. Is this possible? I dont want to have to enable IIS and setup a website just for searching. I dont want indexing service running on the clients either.

I have searched around the internet and i havent found a good guide for indexing services apart from a few MS sites that are geared for IIS.

What version of server 2000?

Ha. I dont have a clue but i would guess its the cheapest version. It is used as a file server, mainly.
