Can't fix things that won't turn on - take it to the repair shop.
Yes I turned my computer off before the latest problem. I believe it was fully charged before shutting it off as well as the charger I purchased was brand new. I don't have a way to check the charger as it is pretty unique to my kind of laptop and doesn't fit my boyfriend's or my school laptop. I've unfortunately come to the conclusion the mobo could be dead. Do you know if a messed up USB port could cause a mobo to die?Hi,Kvevector, and welcome to TSG.
Did you turn off the computer before the latest problem or did it shut down while you let it run unattended? The last time you shut off the laptop, did it still show a significant charge on the battery? Do you have a way of checking if the charger is still putting out a voltage?
I am not saying this applies to your particular brand and model of computer. I could see where some failing power management hardware on the motherboard could first stop supplying power to the USB ports and later fail some more to where the motherboard can no longer power up.Do you know if a messed up USB port could cause a mobo to die?
Not necessarily bad advice, but seems a little premature; see Chuck's trouble shooting. Can't fix things that won't turn on - take it to the repair shop.
Yes, the charger is the exact same type the laptop was originally shipped with. I also bought it from the Asus website. Was the charger you purchased the exact model number recommended by Asus?
