Computer shuts off randomly - Black screen

1038 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  EerieEmilia
Our computer has been shutting off ever since we replaced the motherboard and cpu. It wasn't the motherboard, or temperature because we tried replacing the motherboard, and putting in a fan. The computer runs Windows 7, and usually shuts off during a game within 30 minutes of turning on.

usually shuts off during a game
If it only happens during gaming, that would indicate a problem with the GPU.
Either the fan on the GPU is not working sufficiently to cool the graphics card, the driver needs to be updated or the current power supply is not enough for the gaming requirements.
replaced the motherboard and cpu
Did you clean install windows after the board swap?
Next have you checked your temps and voltages? If not, do so. Since this is a gigabyte board, go to the support page and download easytune. Once you have easytune installed, post the following; cpu temp, system temp, 12V, 5V, and 3,3V values. Do this twice; once under a no load or idle condition and once under 100% load ie while running either prime95 or IBT [both free downloads]
Here is a link to the support page for that board;
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5195#utility

Note there are three different versions of your board so be sure you have selected the correct one.

Post the exact pw supply you are using. Do not post "500W" Post the exact brand and model#
One other item. Easytune is also an overclocking program so do not make any changes; just read the info from the hardware tab.

The power supply is a thermaltake tr2 430 W

I'm not sure how to change the voltage values, but it displays the temperature of
System 34/93, CPU 53/127
constantly.

Do i click the voltage buttons on the HW Monitor tab?
