Computer seems to slow down after 8:00pm every night!

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and I hope someone can help me! Every night around 8:30 my computer seems to slow down, especially my internet connection. I have Adelphia cable and it's usually very fast, but after 8:30 it slows down to a crawl, even slower than dial-up, some pages don't even load at all! It seems to pick back up at around midnight. I've called their tech support and they claim that there is no reason on their end that it could be that slow. They blamed the cable modem, but I don't buy it. How does the modem know what time it is. I've attached a hijack this log from last night if it will help.

There is nothing wrong with the Scanlog. I would keep on Adelphia's case with this. There is no reason why a modem or cable would be time sensitive.

But try bringing up the Task Manager in this period and see if there is anything running that is not there normally.

Most virus scanners set up a full scan or update or other such maintenance for 8ish. Check McAfee's settings.

DoubleHelix may be on to something there, but if you don't have scheduled tasks running for 3 hours every night, maybe you need to talk with your neighbors about their internet schedules.

Cables have lots of bandwidth, but you share that with your "neighborhood." If lots of folks fire up their browsers in the evening, your share of the bandwidth decreases. It's like what happens in the hotel when "everybody" decides to shower at the same time. There may be no reason on Adelphia's end for the slowdown, but if you discuss this with them again ask with how many customers you share the cable.
