My computer will NOT turn on. Briefly, this is what I did last, prior to this problem. Last night, I installed System Mechanic Version 7 ans after successfully installing it, it asked me to reboot my computer. So, I went to the Start Menu and clicked on the Restart button. But here is where the problem began...After clicking the restart button, my computer did not restart. I tried again and waited for nearly 1/2 hr. with no luck. So, what I did was turned off my computer by pressing and holding the start button, on the front of the computer, until it shut down.

Now, this morning, when I tried to turn on my computer...NOTHING!!! The computer makes no attempt to start. There is no sound/noise like the computer is trying to start. So, I replaced the power cord and even tried to plug it into another outlet, but still nothing.

Please tell me that tis is something stupid on my end, because I really need my computer for work and need to resolve this ASAP!!!

Almost certainly the PSU has gone south

If the computer is no longer under warranty remove the case and just check that the small coloured cables in the bottom right hand side of the Motherboard are still connected to the little pins, these control the ability to physically start the PC when you press the switch at the front. If they are all ok, then you will need to invest in a new PSU, which are readily available from all sorts of electronics retailers.

If your PC is still under warranty just phone your customer support helpline and they will arrange for the problem to be fixed.

to have other things fail coincidentally with your events
are slim but also check out:

does the power supply have a circuit breaker reset button
on it, if so give that a press. also there is switch on the
power supply do an off/on with it.

not common but the switch on the front can fail. it might have
stuck unable to close after you held it down to force a power
down.

if you feel up to looking inside the case you could look for where
the wires go to the switch on the case. you could start the
computer by shorting those two pins very carefully with
a paper clip.

some motherboards have an led or two if it is getting power,
if so are any lit?

Thx for the advice, however, my power supply, does not have a reset button on the power supply or in the back of the computer. I checked my wires and I think that they are all hooked up correctly. Also, I din't think that it the power supply, because I just replaced it a little over a month ago.

Any other options would be greatlly appreciated!!!

if you think the power supply good and the connections good then
a very good suspect is the switch on the case.

unplug it from the motherboard. you can test the switch to see
if it closes using a ohm meter or a continuity tester.

you could also carefully short (for just a half second) the
pins on the motherboard that the switch connects to, it
should start the computer if all else is good.

if needed the switch on the case can be replaced with
a doorbell switch.

if you have leds on motherboard then they will be lit
if the power supply is giving the motherboard power.
