Hey there, lately my computer has been having these symtoms:

- Hanging while left on and not used
- Crashing Randomly, maybe 5 Minites into startup
- Failing to start with a black screen where i should reach the login screen but i dont
- Failing to start with the message "A Disk Read Error Has Occured"

The only way i have found around these problems, was taking the case off and disconnecting wires to the hard drive or the mother board and then putting them back in, even then i may have to restart it once or twice.

Please Assist

- Thankyou

Start, my computer, right click on your hard drive, properties , tools, check now, check both boxes, when ask to reboot say yes.

After it is finished (will take awhile) let us know how many errors it find.

Ok well i took the easiet choice before buying anything, and ran the Error check, it checked it ( it took long lol ) does it save a log, because it seemed 2 pass just fine.

But heres a update:

My comp suddenly hanged, and i let it stay like that to see if any messages came up, i got a BSOD with the error Kernel Inpage Stack Error with the code Stop 0x00000077.

Also i took my HD out to replace it with a new one and i may have put a cable back the wrong way. Or my SATA cable, ( that red one that goes into the motherboard ) may be broke, if you require any pictures of the wires, just ask.

P.S

Sorry for the late reply, ive been busy lately with work and school.

Boy can bsods be a pain to figure out sometimes. much easier to just start swapping out hardware.

This error usually means
Boot Sector virus
corrupt OS
bad ram
Failing hard drive.

This page is Microsoft troubleshooting on this BSOD
Troubleshooting "Stop 0x00000077" or "KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR"

Another lady was having the same error not to long ago dunno if she found out what it is but this is what I suggested to her. 20% report back if they got it fixed and only 2% report how they got it fixed lol (that kind of info helps everybody to learn, even the most experienced guys)

I particular do not want to retype all that info so here is her post and the info I was suggesting.
You did the chkdsk so skip that and move to the other things (the last post I made)

Ok mate will do. I also wanted to ask, would having the Hardrive as a SATA and the DVD reader as IDE cable, as i have one part of the IDE cable just flopping around not attached to anything. I also know its not the hardrive itself because I had this problem with another and i thought that was the problem so i got a replacement.

Ill post what i done, if i get this fixed.

Well if you only have only one CD ROM (dvd rom) you should have it connected to the very end of the cable and not in the middle of the ide cable. that could cause errors. middle is for slave and end is for master.

So

Blue Into Blue Socket on MotherBoard
Black Into DVD

??

Because at minite its the middle (grey) in the DVD.

And sometimes at start up it has trouble detecting slaves masters, and sometimes puts the HD as 4th. I just constantly restart it till it fixes
