Computer goes into safe mode mysteriously

My computer is a Pentium 2 with Windows 98. Sometimes when I turn on the computer in the morning, it either goes into safe mode by itself or I am taken to the page where 1. is Normal Mode and 3. is Safe Mode, and I am told to select safe mode because there is a problem with my computer. I have just been selecting Normal Mode, but is this going to keep happening? On my previous computer, I could never get it out of safe mode no matter what I did, and I never got it working again.
