I just started using qwest msn dsl and am keeping aol, which i have had for 10 years. I access aol thru msn by using the aol bring your own broadband program. tonight when I signed off aol , which placed me back to msn ,my computer screen froze with the message "MSN Explorer We are unable to load a required library VERSION.dll. Error code ox ooooo45a."
in order to clear I had to shut down the computer. What would cause this??

Trying to use AOHell which is third-party non-microsoft certified software with MSN or any other decent ISP software, will do that. Just because AOL says something will work is a sure indication their claims fall through. Ask the 10s of thousands that switch from AOL forever every year just for that reason (among many others). Uninstall AOL now,and restart your 'puter.

If your using MSN or any other ISP, You need to be running a firewall like free Sygate from http://download.com - type, sygate, in the Search box, you must be on-line to register Sygate, that is if you're not using a firewalled Router on a Network or, have another third-party firewall like Sygate installed, to protect you and the Internet community from hackers, spammers and terrorist from using your computer for their own illicit needs while you're on-line?

Do a full updated virus scan imediatel. What anti-virus are you using? If you're running Mcaffee or Norton anti-virus and have not recently paid for a one year subscription to download weekly new virus definitions, you might consider getting free AntiVir 6 from http://free-av.com - Uninstalling Mcaffee; Restarting your computer and installing free AntiVir Anti-virus 6.0.

Go to http://free-av.com - Click the Download button - Click the Red/Black AntiVir icon - Download to a folder of your choice, like My Documents, using the drop-down arrow next to Save in - once the download is done - double-click the download's icon (avwinsfx.exe) to initiate the download.

For questions regarding AntiVir use (I use it with WinXP) please reply back. I've used it for three years and noted strong protection. They put out updates every other day thru the week. You just get on-line and right-click the System Tray red umbrella and point to Start Internet Update and click the AntiVir Internet updater Start button.

There are a few nice tweaks left but very simple and handy - reply back. You must uninstall any current anti-virus you use, in Add/Remove Programs control panel, first. Then restart your computer. Then install AntiVir.

Ok. Boot to Safe Mode to run a updated scan withg AntiVir.

(tap F8 five times per second during a restart; Choose option number three (3) in the Windows Startup dialog box using the arrow keys below the Delete key, and strike the Enter key; Click Ok when prompted).

Know how to run a full AV scan? just ask.

Assuming you have AntiVir properly installed and are in Safe Mode; Temporarily disable your screen saver (choose None); Right-click the red umbrella System Tray icon or, left-double-click the red umbrella Desktop icon; Point to Start AntiVir Main Program as appropriate; Tick the Local disk [c:] box; click on the Gear icon and highlight Search on the left; put a tick in the All Files radio button on the right. Highlight Unwanted Programs on the left; tick the Activate All Types radio button on the Right. Click the Ok button. Click the magnifying glass icon to start the scan. The rule for fighting virus is, 'when in doubt, delete.' Press the yellow E in delete (on the keyboard) or mouse activate the proper button to delete anything found.

For questions or concerns reply back.
