Will the cpiter boot with the AC adapter plugged in and battery removed?

Computer died & now won't restart..battery light for 30 secs
I took my computer with me in a hurry and didn't bring charger. Battery length wasn't very long since it was older. Computer is a Lenovo G570 so nothing special but I have all my pics/documents on it and didn't backup or upload copies online so they are very important. So, it runs out of juice and dies hard. When I plug it in & try to restart it, it only lights up for a few secs and then light goes off. Nothing happens. So, I tried other AC adapters and still the same. I buy a new battery and same thing. I take the hard drive out of the computer and try to access the files from another computer but it never brings it up. I plug it in and it brings up the drive and tries to access it. It shows that it is loading it but when it gets to the end, it never opens the files. Is it dead? Is there anything I can do to be able to get my files? Thank you in advance for any advice. I very much appreciate the service, although, feeling very bummed right now as I anticipate the answer.

Yes, we tried that too. No difference. Still only lite up briefly and then turn back off. Wouldn't stay lite long enuf to start up. Had someone (not expert) take out HDD and they said Motherboard felt really hot. I don't know. Thought I'd throw that in. Also, when I used to let computer die the hard way, by it running out of juice, it would usually take awhile to start back up but it would start. That's all I can think of. Thanks again for any info you can provide.
The fact that the drive shows up when you plug it into another PC is a heartening sign; but, as a note of caution, treat it very carefully! When a hard drive is operating, it is seven times more fragile than a raw egg and one little bump can kill it.
Go get the free trial of http://www.hdtune.com 's pro version and install it. Connect the drive from the Lenovo. Run HDTune, change the selected drive to the one from the Lenovo, click on the Error Scan tab, and click the Start button. It will take a very long time to finish; but, if even one red box appears, that is why you can't see the files, the drive is dying.
If it comes up all green, we'll want to run CHKDSK on it to see what it thinks is wrong so post back for that.

Yes PLEASE be careful with it....it's like a record player...uses an arm to scan the platter so one bump can damage it
