Computer can't find WiFi

351 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  flavallee
My net went down so I restarted the router, this is common where I live. However, once the router was back online and my phone connected to the WiFi, I checked my computer to find it couldn't find my WiFi. It can find many others in the area, just not mine. I tried restarting my computer, turning flight mode on and off, checking settings and troubleshooting. I'm stuck and frustrated. Please help.

Is it a power line problem? Then maybe the power surge damaged your PC.
Try restarting your router again.
Check the router to see that both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz SSID's are turned on.
There was no power surge, the net is just fickle where I live. Both 2.4 and 5 are on.
Is it just your computer that cannot see the wifi, or all wireless devices?
A detailed description of the WiFi device in your computer may be helpful to the networking experts here.

Just my computer, as I said my phone is connected to it.

How do I check that?

What is the brand name and model name and model number and serial number of your computer?
Is your computer a desktop/tower or a laptop/notebook?
Does your computer have an internal wireless card or does it have an external USB wireless adapter?

Load the "Device Manager" window.
Expand the "Network Adapters" heading so you can see the devices listed there.

Alright, it's a TP-Link Wireless N PCI Express Adapter. My computer is a desktop/tower, and I'm pretty sure the adapter is external because it has the receiver on the outside, although the rest seems to be inside the tower case.

Just tried to connect through my phone's mobile hotspot and it couldn't see that either...
You provided very little information to my questions.

I am going to assume your desktop/tower has an internal TP-Link PCIe 802.11n wireless card which has 1 or more external antennas.
