ok ive got an inspiron 1300 dell laptop, recently i tried to make my computer load up faster by unchecking unneccesary items in the startup list(msconfig) i did this and everything was fine but all of a sudden its gone really wierd. My task bar at the bottom has altered appearance i cant revert back to the normal xp looking one and all of my network connections have completely dissapeared. It seems it does not recognise anything in the network connections window. What has happened?

recheck what you unchecked an see if that helps. or try system restore

i reselected everything. With the system restore i did think about doing it and when i went on it the only day it had a restore date was that date, i cant go back months or anything
