I'm new to writing command line scripts and am trying to write one that will record time, date, and ip configuration each time my laptop signs on to a network (wireless mainly, but wired as well).

I don't know how to check for a connection in a script or what event is triggered when the network is connected.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to TSG!
You should request for this to be moved to the scripting section, this would be better.

I can however tell you that in routers, there is normally a log of all activities, such as when MAC addresses sign on etc.

Kind Regards

I appreciate the help. I'll post in the scripting section. I must have missed it when I posted here.

Thanks,

Either request a mod to move this by using the red triangle in to top right of your post, or request this is deleted or closed.

I'm not sure, another member suggested I request that it be moved to the "scripting section", I assumed there was one that I was just missing. If not, just disregard my request.

Thanks,
