Hi. I had someone I know clean up a computer that was very slow and barely running at all because of sites that had been visited and file sharing programs that pretty much killed the computer. He fixed it all up and made sure it was not loading up all the cookies and viruses (it took about 15 mins to boot when it was restarted before it was cleaned up). I no longer speak with this person, and I am wondering what he did and how. I need to help someone else clean up their computer too. Any help is appreciated. Also, I used to have file sharing software on this machine but it no longer on the computer, is it harmful to keep some of those music files that were DL'd with file sharing? Thanks.

It would be difficult to answer what someone else did. There are thousands of viruses/spyware/trojans/worms, etc. Obviously we can't write a book's worth of information to answer your question.

You could start by reading the threads here in this forum and especially the threads in the Security Forum:
