Hi.
I am trying to do a clean install of windows 7 on a Dell xps studio 8100 but nothing is working. When the install has been successful, the computer boots and runs extremely slow. So slow that if I try to install the drivers that came with the machine the computer will just crash. Whenever I boot the all of the applications freeze (Not responding). often once the computer crashes windows fails to start if I try to turn the computer back on again and i have to reinstall. The HDD is a western digital Blue caviar. Please help/tell me what other info you guys need, I have literally spent the last week of my life outside of school attempting to install windows on this computer.

What's the exact "service tag" number and/or "express service code" number on that Dell XPS 8100 desktop?

Did you install Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit, and does it contain Service Pack 1?

Did that Windows 7 disc and drivers disc both originally come with that desktop?

Hey sorry for going AWOL, I really do appreciate the response! So i figured out the problem, my older brother thought he was a computer wiz and decided to upgrade the system's hard drive a couple years ago. The fast system I had referenced originally ran with a black caviar which is apparently a much better boot drive. I did get windows to succesfully install on windows but it was slower than a snail. So my next move is to put the Caviar black back in and re install the system. :) Appreciate it man!
You're welcome.
