We had.........

smoked ham ( not spiral ham.... the big ol' ham with the bone.... cooked on the grill)
smoked turkey (also cooked on the grill)
oven roasted turkey
cottage cheese salad
homemade cranberry relish/sauce
stuffing
fruit salad
veggie tray
strawberries and cream cheese dip
crab dip
tuna pasta salad
apple crisp
chocolate cream pie
cookies
candies
sweet tater casserole
green bean casserole
deviled eggs

At our house, Christmas eve offers a light simple dinner (usually from a box or take-out) but laterz, we have:

baked cheese straws
shrimp with cocktail sauce
a variety of crackers and cheeses
an assortment of pickles, baby onions, raw veggies w/ dip
easy-peel oranges, pomegranates, strawberries, apples and pears
sausage rolls
mini Scotch pies
deviled eggs
nibbles from every chocolate out of a box of 100
mincemeat tarts
eggnog served in champagne glasses


Christmas dinner:

oven roasted turkey, cooked to perfection
roasted chestnut dressing
pork cottage roll, slow cooked until the meat falls off the bone
mushed Yukon Gold potatoes and gravy (both lumpless)
fresh carrot and mushroom saute (wayyyyy too much pepper )
3 bean casserole, quiche and 2 salads (my eldest decided 3 days before Xmas he was goin' vegetarian )
warm from the oven pies (bought not baked): apple, pumpkin and blueberry w/ vanilla icecream

The New Year's Day meal is:

Roast beef
Yorkshire pudding and gravy
Roasted potatoes and carrots

First desert 2007 will be:

peeled Mandarin oranges and sliced strawberries drizzled with Grand Marnier and topped with fresh whipped cream and sprinkled with chocolate shavings.

LMAO it was the Grand marnier that got yer attention, wazn't it.

I so love Yorkshire pudding, but can take or leave the roast. I've even tried to make it using bacon/leftover fat and beef Bovril. Not the same.

LOL..... yep....it was But hey.... it sounds so delish!

I've never had Yorkshire pudding.

It's not especially purdy to look at, but slathered with gravy, it's a Queen's delectable delight.

I'm not that big on the traditional meal. I eat turkey all year long. I had dinner with family and of course they served turkey. I also don't eat gravy, or vegstables with sauces. Of course that's what was served. The mashed potatoes were good. But I had a good time and brought home a peice of pie. That's what it's all about.
