I've got 6 80 mm sunon fans and I've had enough of the noise. I reckon I only need 1 main fan to blow outside air specifically to my [email protected] T-bird. That seems the only vital componant that need lots of air.

To do this I heard about ducting as being a simple and cheap option.

Today I bought myself some 100 mm aluminium ducting.

Before I install it however I just want to here what you think about ducting and whether choosing aluminium 100 mm was a good Idea or should I make my won?

P.s Have a big Jumo P6 tower case so I have plenty of space to play around with.

Too many fans can be just as bad as too few. You can create a vaccuum where the air will not flow at all if the airflow in and out isn't balanced. I saw a formula for it somewhere once....some case modding site. Eliminating dead spots in your case is very important aslo so hot air doesn't pool in one spot. Ever thought of trying water cooling since you have so much room?

However it is pretty effective and quiter. I can't stand a jet engine for a computer so that would really bug me. If I were you I would be so fed up I wouldn't really care how much it costs. Did you ever hear about that guy that was experiementing with mineral oil cooling? He was doing his burn-ins around nov. 23rd and last I heard that went really well. No fans at all and cpu temp never went above room temp. Of course it is quite messy, so it would be hard to utilize in a system, but a good thought nonetheless.
