Changing Virtual Memory?

I have a question to ask, I've always wondered what would happen if I changed Windows 98's Virtual Memory... It says it's recomended to allow Windows to do it, why? But then there's a spot to put a check mark on "I will set the Virtual Memory". Has anyone ever set this up manually? It says that I have "10808 MB Free", why would they put that option there if they didn't think anyone should tamper with it???

Because Windows can manage virtual memory better than we can. You can tinker with it all you want, but it will be a fixed value if you set it. Windows manages virtual memory dynamically on the fly when applications and the OS need it.
