Change number on whatsapp web

hi, is it possible to change my Whatsapp number on PC? The number linked to my Whatsapp is no longer in service. I uninstalled the app as I was having issues with it, forgetting that I would need that number to be active for verification. So the only way is to change my Whatsapp number. I have already backed up my chat to google drive. Is there any way I can restore the chats from my previous number to this new number? I can still use my old number on Whatsapp web but I don't see any option to 'change number'. Help

but i have already uninstalled whatsapp linked to the old number before doing the 'change number' option. after reinstalling, i can only key in my new number for verification.

You have to disconnect it and link it again with the new number then only its possible
