Hi,
I started to install RedHat 9.0 tonight, and was pretty excited to play with a new OS and learn about it. To my dismay, I got to the third CD and when I put it in, an error popped up saying that the CD was unable to mount! I had 3 min left to go on the installation and then that happened... so I just turned it off and decided to get help. What does that mean and what could be my problem? This is a Dell Optiplex GXa machine with a Toshiba cdrom. Could I have a bad CDROM drive, or is there something that I can do to fix this?

Also, I'm running WIN2K Pro, trying to make it a dual boot. When I go into windows it says that the device is working properly; however, the drive doesn't seem to be reading any CD that I put in!

did you check all three CD's for defects at the beginning of the install....?

i ran RedHat all distros for years and it always reconginzed my cdrom drives....

MD5 the third CD, to ensure that it was downloaded properly, then verify it.

If you can find out what was on the third cd, then you can figure out what to exclude in the install, so that it does not call for the third CD. Then you can install everything off of the net (Redhat does have that ability right? I mean, remote installing packages)
