I recently just installed a new DVD rom drive in my computer, i am running windows xp home and i have had a regular cd writer in the top drive..after installing the dvd drive i turned on my computer and it works great except that my original cd drive will not close, i can put in a cd and close it and it will read it for a few seconds then just pop it back out. i have set both of the drives to cable select so its not a master slave problem..somebody please help :(

Try a different disk. I've had a drive eject a blank disk if the disk itself was faulty. Sometimes the bargain-priced blank cd's won't work consistently. It's best to stick to name brand disks.

Otherwise, right-click "My Computer">properties>hardware>device manager>click + to expand dvd/cd-rom drives>dbl-click the problem drive>properties.

It should say the device is working properly. If not, there is a trouble shooting button.
