My CD-ROM drive was working fine, then all of a sudden...
It wouldn't open, & the little LED just keeps flashing repeatedly!

Did the old paper clip in the hole job & got the disc out but since that, nothing at all!
Had to push the drive back in manually.
Light is still flashing, did a "device manager"- says it's working fine.
Have tried right clicking the drive icon in "my comp" so as to click on eject- nothing! Have re-booted about 4 times, run window washer etc...

+ it has made the whole system run at a snail's pace!

Nothin ggoing on at all folks!
PLEEEASE can y'all help me get this thing running again!!!

Good Morning,

I would do the following.
1. Place a previously loaded game's start disk or known good CDrom disk (Not music) in the CDrom and close it .
2.Shut off the system and leave for 5 minutes to allow everything to discharge.
3. power up the system and do nothing until everything settles down.
4. IF the cdrom light continues to blink I think it has died as it can no longer read.
5. If the cdrom light goes off try to start the game or read the disk in the Cdrom.
Let me know what happens.

On some Cd Rom drives you can use the double tap procedure that mini reboots the system and gets it working.

If the light starts blinking then press the eject button twice quickly (double tap) and wait 5 secs. It should start working again.

I hope this helps.

Did you actually power down the system? Rebooting won't cure many problems like this.
