You may have your "Burn Speed" setting, set to "Max". Since most cds now, are 1x - 52x, it will burn them at 52x. Try putting the burn speed setting to a lower number (if you haven't already), and see if that helps.
Good luck!

If that doesn't work, you may have to do a firmware upgrade/downgrade, to get the results you want. If you are using a name brand computer (HP, Compaq, Dell, etc.), you'll need to get their firmware for your drive, if they have another version. Even though it's a LiteOn drive (a good brand, BTW, IMHO), you can't use firmware from LiteOn, or you'll void your warranty. That's one of the reasons I won't buy a name brand computer. I buy custom built, and can do what I want to, to it. If you are out of warranty, check LiteOn's site, or here: http://www.codeguys.rpc1.org. for firmware for your drive.

EDIT:
When I tried to submit this answer, i would have been the only answer, at that point. But, my ISP was down (Road Runner), so rather than lose all my type (slow typist), I left it open, until internet came back online, then submitted. Didn't see till afterwards, the other posts............... That's why some of what I said, sounds like I didn't read the other posts.

Actually, while buffer overrun protection is a great thing, it's not 100% foolproof. If you run into the buffer limit repeatedly, the audio quality will suffer.
