I just installed a GeForce 5200 on my comp.
It works but now I just lost all sound, and my sound devices
(Hercules Game Theatre XP 7.1) doesn't even
show up in the device manager...

forgot to mention, i'm using xp pro. and i installed the card on an ECS P4S5MG/GL+ mobo

Try uninstalling the soundcard software and then rebooting and see if winXP picks up the card and asks for the software. Alternatively just move the card do a different PCI slot and see if it works from that.

the only problem i find with windows is that it's too user friendly.
So it just automatically installed a different driver for my card, but I managed to work around that
