Cant update my geforce 960m through Geforce Expeience.

Every time I try to update my driver through geforce experience it gives me the blue screen of death and says it was caused by driver_power_state_failure. Please help as I have been trying to solve this for over a month and can't find any clues as to why it's doing this. Windows 8.

Is your computer running Windows 8 or 8.1, 32-bit or 64-bit?

Instead of updating the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M driver through GeForce Experience (which isn't really needed), why don't you download and save the driver from the NVIDIA driver downloads site and then install it?

My asus laptop is running 8.1 64 bit. I have tried to download it directly from the website but it says certain things are missing such as physX and the previous driver to be updated. Is there any reason why it won't download from Geforce Experience? Thank you for helping me with this problem.
I've never used Windows 8.1 or NVIDIA GeForce Experience, so I can't answer your question.

I never download and install any of the extras that come with a NVIDIA display driver.
I don't need any of them, and it makes it easier to install the driver.

Can you post a screenshot of device mgr? Do you have any yellow marks in dm?
When you download the driver from nvidia, then run setup, it should give you the option of a custom install. Choose custom install then select what parts of the driver package you want to install ie physx, driver, whatever.
