Can't send some e-mails with IM

I am getting various messages when trying to send *some* e-mails. The latest one is -ERR [SYS/TEMP] problem retrieving message. I also get this: Failed to find host.Socket Error: 11004, Port: 465, Protocol: SMTP.The requested name is valid and was found in the database, but it does not have the correct associated data being resolved for. and this: Outgoing server POP3.mail.att.net cannot be found. Please verify that you are connected to the internet, and that the server address is correct and try again. Hope someone can help! It's strange how I can send most but not all e-mails.

Outgoing server POP3.mail.att.net cannot be found.
I think this is definitely incorrect. Looking at their settings page, it's either going to be outbound.att.net or smtp.att.net (I suspect the latter) for the outbound server.
Thanks. I tried changing the outbound to both but now I'm getting this: 535 5.7.0 (#AUTH204) Service is not available; please try again later.
Usually that means you have the incorrect password entered to authenticate to the server. Which mail application are you using, and have you tried entering in the password for your account provided by AT&T?
Tried that it doesn't work. :(
I think you'd be better contacting AT&T to either reset your password and/or walk you through the process of setting up your mail client properly.
I just chatted with support after I changed my password for the upteenth time and all of a sudden all the messages in the outbox were sent! Magic, I guess! :) Thanks for your help!
Great! Glad to be of assistance (y)

I'm back! :-( Now I get this message: 535 5.7.0 (#AUTH005) Too many bad login attempts. I talked to AT&T and they will only help if I pay them $15 /month or a one time fee of $49 (refundable if they can't resolve the issue.) Nothing like being held hostage! UGH! Any suggestions? Thanks.
That error occurs because authentication failed with the server. I would recommend double-checking the username and password you use to authenticate. In some instances, a lock-out will reset after a given amount of time. In others, you need tech support to unlock the account. However, for them to charge you to help with this seems ridiculous to me if you're an existing customer.

Ok, well I got it to work again. Who knows when it will stop working! UGH! thanks so much!!
