Hi there,
HELP!
Please excuse me, this is my first try at this and I am a novice at networking. I set up a shared internet connection at home. 1 cable modem, 1 wireless router connected to via cable to a desktop running Windows 2000, and 1 wireless connection on a laptop running Windows XP. On the laptop (XP), I was able to share a folder on the network. On the desktop (W2K), I right click on the folder/drive I want to share and the "Sharing" option is not present. I went to the Network and Dial-Up Connections Folder and located my network. I verified that the "File and Printer Sharing for Microsft Networks" was present and checked. Shouldn't that do it? Shuldn't I be able to see the "Sharing" option? Is there something I am missing? Please help. I don't want to do anything extravagant - just share 1 folder from my W2K desktop to the XP laptop.
Thanks in advance for your help!

In Network and Dial-up Connections (Win 2k Pro) or Network Connections (XP) right click on your connection and select ‘Properties.’ If not already there, install or add a check mark for “Client for Microsoft Networks, “File and Printer sharing …” and “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).”

That's where my problem lies. I did right click on the Properties and I do see all 3 listed AND checked (“Client for Microsoft Networks, “File and Printer sharing …” and “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"). I don't understand why I'm still not seeing the Sharing option for my folders/drives. Do you think something is corrupted or is there a setting that I need to turn on/off? I'm bewildered about this.

Thanks. I tried your suggestion of the unistall/reinstall. I was really hoping this would solve my issue, but unfortunately, it didn't. I'm still very puzzled. Anyone else ever run into this problem or is it just my bad luck? Any suggestions other than reinstalling Win 2K Prof?

:D Thanks Jedi Master. Last night when I posted the reply, I didn't realize that I forgot to reboot the machine. This morning when it was powered up again, I checked my folders and I now can finally see the "Sharing" option on the right click. I guess it just needed to be reinstalled as you suggested.
Thank you so much. This will make my life much easier - 2 kids limits my access to my "main" computer. Now I can use my wireless laptop! :D
