hi, i have a toshiba a30 laptop.Using xp home with SP2. It has a cd/dvd combo (dvdrom SD-R6112) it wont read ( but does try to) a copied dvd whether its movies, data or music, it will read original cd, dvd and copied cds. Toshiba does not have F/W updates. have uninstalled dvdrom and have done a complete recovery using origianal disks.Dvds were created on this computer and will play on other computers. everything shows up in device manager etc. i did get it to recongize a dvd-rw, but no data show up, explorer showed it as a cd drive, not a dvd drive. when i took the dvd-rw out explorer went back to a dvd drive.
