I think I've infected with malware my emachines NV51 running NT Home Ed Win 5.1. (I used a USB that could have been infected from my other laptop).
It runs fine - and quickly - in Safe Mode but when I try to log in normally nothing happens - the log in screen does not move. Earlier it was letting me log in but the eggtimer was hanging - there was no action. And it was running very slow.
Also, it told me repeatedly that it had detected new hardware when I had n't installedI any.
But I had been deleting files and running updates etc so I could lend it to a friend, too - so maybe it is not malware.
Can anybody help? (These machines don't have CD drives, just USB)
