Ok. I do not know why my pc is not putting out any sound at all. I can't even get an Aol greeting, or music. I tried deleting stuff that I thought would help, but it didn't, and I don't know to do.
could someone please give me advice on what to do.

Dont take this the wrong way because it happens alot. Have you tried opening your volume control in the systray to see if anything is muted?
My sound for my pc is still not working. I checked
the volume control, and the mute. It's not the mute.
I checked everything. Don't have any idea on what to do.
I tried restarting the computer, and it still did not
work. I'm about to go insane.
Thanks for the prevoius help.

Right click on my computer and choose properties>device manager>sound>do you see any exclamation or quotation marks?
I tried my computer, and I didn't see any exclamation points.
Do you have any more ideas. Thanks again. Maniak
Have you moved your computer recently. Could be the jack is plugged into the wrong port, or maybe your speakers are dead.
My computer has not moved since it's been here.
It has been here for about two or three years.
I don't believe that my speakers are dead. I'm sure
they work. I'll take suggestions if you got 'em. Thanks again

Before we remove anything, have you tried rebooting?
yes. I have tried rebooting. It still did nothing.
Thanks for the help. Maniak.
Right click my computer, highlight your sound card, click remove and then reboot. Windows should pick it back up when it comes up.

have you Re-Formatted recently and had to install drivers for the sound card?
Try plugging in a headset into the speaker slot, just to see if it's working.
Is the sound card "Built In" or is it a PCI or ISA card ?.
I hate to say this, but nothing is working yet. I have not had it rebooted in a long time, but I as thinking about it. would that help any? I tried to remove the sound at my computer, but that didn't work either. I appreciate all the help. Can I get some more please? thank-you much.

Rebooting is just restarting your system. If you are thinking of reformating (reinstalling windows) I dont believe this will help.
Again, right click my computer>choose properties>device manager tab>scroll down to sound, video and game controlers>click the plus>what is listed there?

Now go to start>run>type msinfo32>ok>click the plus next to hardware>click IRQ>use edit to select all and copy the information and post it back here.
Ok. all these next items are located in my computer.
1. ESS SOLO-1 DOS Emulation.
2. ESS SOLO-1 PC Audio Drive.
3. Gameport Joystick.
Those are the items on "my computer."

These Next are in the start>run>msinfo.

Delete sound card drivers and reinstall? Make sure you have drivers, or know what type of sound card so can access online.
I've already deleted the sound cards and reinstalled them, but that didn't seem to help any. Thanks for the info.

Right click the ESS SOLO-1 PCI Audio Drive and choose properties>driver tab>update. Point it at your cab files. Resart your system. Then go to start>settings>control panel>multimedia>what is listed for preferred device under playback and recording, what boxes are checked at the bottom?
OK. The preferred devices under "playback" and Recording are:
1. Ess AudioDrive Playback (2050)
The are both the same.
The baox that is checked is tha one that reads,"Use only preferred devices."
That is everything that I know to give. Thanks again for your help.
