Cant get my new gpu to work

Ive made my 1rst upgrade to my now dated pc.

I replaced my gt550ti with an rx580 on my pc with a asrock 890fx deluxe 5 MB and for some reason it seems to be working, the fans spinning and such, but nothing comes up on my screen.

ive checked if the gpu is mounted properly, cleared my cmos, deleted old gpu drivers and installed new ones but still the new gpu wont show anything, not even show bios, the screen is just black.

debug on my MB shows error "console output devices connect"

ive tested with every posible combination of ram(4 rams, 2 rams even 1 single ram)

i have a 750 watt power suply. tried to use a different 8pin cable, but nothing.

some thigs i should mention are my bios version is from 29-5-2012 but when i try i update bios from the windows bios updater from my MB versions site ( version from 13-6-2012 [https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/890FX Deluxe5/index.asp#BIOS]) for some reason the bios version date stays the same, as if the installer does nothing.

another thing to point out is that my rx580 has HDMI port and DVI port but i could only test on HDMI due to a lack of DVI cable.

Please help!

I'm going to assume you replaced a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics card with a AMD Radeon RX 580 graphics card.
Is that correct?

Is the graphics card and monitor connected together with a stand-alone HDMI cable, or is there an adapter involved?

I'm not a hardware/diagnostic expert, so be patient until someone who is jumps in.

The brand name and exact model number or the webpage link of that 750W power supply would be helpful.

I have a rotateable adaptor on my screen for my hdmi. but it works fine with my old gpu.
I have no idea what a "rotatable adapter" is.

What does the connector look like on the other end of that adapter?

its hdmi to hdmi.
it just allows my cable to be fitted on a very narrow space.
The adapter may be the problem. Have you tried it with out the adapter?

What brand is your RX580? What other type of cable connections have you tried....ie DVI/DP?

Why are you not using a standard HDMI cable to connect the HDMI port in the graphics card and the HDMI port in the monitor?

I'm still somewhat confused as to why you're using that adapter.

the original post answers those questions.
the adapter cant be the problem because my motherboard wouldnt show an error.
ive tried without the adapter aswell and still shows the same error.
when i use the old gpu without any cable my motherboard still doesnt show any errors which means that the problem is somehow related with the graphics card and is internal, not with external sources like the cable or screen.
also i stated that i can only use hdmi and dvi but i dont have any dvi cable to test it on. but even if i did the motherboard shouldnt show any error whatsoever.

my gpu model is RADEON RX580 pulse.

dont have the space behind my screen because my whole set up is tightly spaced and also the problem doesnt seem to be external but internal. ive also tried without the adpater and i get the same error.

Radeon is an AMD series title.....not who makes it...ie Gigabyte, Sapphire, XFX.

im sorry its Sapphire.

Thank you.

Looking that up I see that it requires a minimum of a 500 watt PSU and 1 PCIe 8 pin PSU cable. It also has 5 output ports. What brand (who makes it) PSU are you using. Sometime entry level or builder grade PSU's just can't handle a more powerful GPU no matter what the wattage is. We see it time and time again.

Make sure the 8 pin cable you're using is labeled GPU on it. Next would be to get a DP cable and or DVI cable to test. Once tested and you still have the problem.....time to return the GPU as it may be defective. A small investment for peace of mind.

In my experience I'm betting it's the adapter/cable as the issue. Just because it works on/with one type of GPU doesn't mean it will work on another type of GPU.
Thank you.

ive tried 2 8pin cables on my gpu but still nothing, one of which was the one i was using prior to the upgrade and the other was a leftover one i wasnt using.
that didnt seem to be the issue...

Truth is i could try a DVI or DP cable but i need to go buy one of those in order to test that one out.
But still i must insist that due to the error 97 " console output devices connect " that it mustnt be the cables fault since i dont get that error even when no cable is plugged.
Thank you.

Every thing I finding for that error code is related to a BIOS issue, that is, the BIOS needs to be updated. I remember you said you tried to update the BIOS and was unsuccessful.

You have to download the BIOS update to a USB drive. Then reboot the system, go into the BIOS find the BIOS update tab and follow instructions.

Look on youtube on how to update your mobo BIOS. That will give you a very good guide and how to update your BIOS.

Thank you for being so helpful but the bios is where this thing gets tricky...
so i also tried to upgrade the bios using the usb drive.
what happened was that when i later tried to enter the BIOS it would open them up BUT every time i tried to open a submenu it would close the window instantly. this includes the save and exit menu.

what i did was reset the CMOS, watch a turorial, try again, and the same thing would happen.

im afraid of trying with the BETA drivers which are a more recent update due to fear of making things worse.

what is your suggestion?
That could very well be your issue.....low end entry level PSU that uses substandard parts.

Yep...I'd stay away from the beta BIOS, unless directed to do so by your mobo mfg. Which I've seen done.

Sound like your not following something correctly.
