I can't get into any off my program files. I am using Windows XP home edition on my HP computer. every time I try to get into any of the files and control panel, I get this message that won't allow me access.
Message is as follows:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Option control panel.

Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

boot into safe mode and check to make sure you log in as the adminstrator, does this same problem occur? it is possible you have a virus... run hijackthis and post the report.

Just a few times. Back when it was just dear old SubSeven and before this spate of Malware raised it's ugly head.

One of the ways Trojans, viruses, etc ensure that they always run, is to add themselves onto the EXE registry key. The initial problems that occured, was that your friendly virus checker would find and remove the culprit, BUT leave the call to the program on the EXE key. So, every time you ran any program, it would say it couldn't find mkiotionw.exe (or whatever the beast called itself).

The reg file just puts back what the default key looks like.

Now that you are up and running again, run this online virus check to confirm you are clean.
