Can't find program on Windows 98

722 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Bryan
Bare with me, this is Grandma and the kids thought we should have a computer - so I am a novice. Don't save anything, just do e-mails, maps to find places and some medical questions. However, I do like to do the casino games. The last two computers they got for us, the same Windows 98 disk was used. The one that a friend just insatlled on the new replaced hard drive unit - does not have the games on it anymore. Did he inadvertently erase or not install it?? I would like it on my computer. How can I find it or get it installed? Hope it is simple so this Grandma can do it! Thanks.........

Did he install W98 for you or Windows ME? W98 has games that come with it but they are Solitaire, MineSweeper and few others but no casino games. Your prior install of Windows was probably a factory install by the maker of the PC and they most likely included the casino games.

If it's really Solitaire, MineSweeper, etc that you were referring to, you can install them this way. But if it's casino games you want, you'll most likely need to go buy them.

Check here and see what you find. Click on Start>Settings>ControlPanel>Add/RemovePrograms. Now click on the "Windows Setup" tab. Now double left click on "Accessories". Then scroll down and see if "Games" has a checkmark next to it. If not, select it. Depending on how he installed Windows, you may need to insert the Windows CD when prompted.

Let us know what you find.
And here are some free casino games you can download and install yourself. You want the ones that say "Free" not the ones that say "Shareware".

Casino Games

BTW, be careful and read about each game before you download or install it. Some of those on that page may be software to lure you into gambling online. I don't know for sure since I've never installed any of them. Just please be careful. If the game wants you to connect to the internet while your playing it, don't let it connect and then uninstall it.

Good luck and let us know what happens.
