Hello. I could not get XP to complete boot up, so i decided to load a clean version on my D: drive. Now I have two copies of windows, one that works and one thaty doesn't.

However, my new installation does not transfer my desktop settings or let me connect to the internet. Can I get my settings, passwords etc from the old version on the C:drive so I can use messenger, etc, like I did before?

I tried "SETTINGS AND FILE TRANSFER WIZARD" but it did not seem to work?

Do I have to set up all new internet connections?

Thanks for your help.

A clean install necessitates setting up everything all over again. This includes installation of program applications, drivers, network settings... Everything.

All you will be able to get from your old setup (assuming you can access it) are document files and perhaps address book, and favorites. Perhaps a few other things. Programs like Word or utilities you may have installed on the old setup will have to be installed again on the new one.

You will also have to do Windows Updates all over again.
