can't boot windows xp home os

I can't boot my PC - no start menu appears - just an endless loop of errors. I can boot in safe mode, but not sure what to do next. What next steps would you recommend?

Do you have time to record at least one of the errors?
Thanks for respondine... error msgs: windows can't find c:\windows\adddj.exe. other missing exe files are: \system32.addhx.exe; \addnc.exe';\addd032.exe; system32\addfw32.exe;\addd032.ex;\addii.32.exe;\system32.addot.exe;\nethg.exe;\addpt.exe'\addgx.exe'\addjw32.exe
Install Startup Control Panel. Look through and see what is starting at boot and see if there are things there that you want to turn off, especially if you think it may be related to the source of the error messages.

The similarity in the names suggests that they are being manufactured by malware. Apparently, whatever starts these things is not active in Safe Mode.

I'd suggest running AdAware and Spybot in Safe Mode. Run Microsoft Antispyware, too, and do a thorough virus scan with recent profiles. If that doesn't solve the problem, post a HijackThis log in the Security forum for someone to analyze for you.
Thanks - I completed the 1) start-up controll 2) adAware; 3)spybot; 4) MS - antispyware; 5) norton - still having problems so I will post to hijackthis.
