can't access youtube and facebook

7185 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Golden_
From one week ago, my laptop could not connect to youtube and facebook using the home network. The other websites work fine. Other devices in my house don't have this problem. But if I go to target or use my iphone hotspot, it works. It's weird...Anyone knows the problem??

Instead of typing in 'youtube.com' on the address-bar, try accessing it using this:

173.194.33.67

and for Facebook, use this address:
173.252.110.27

Then provide an update if this allows you to their web-page or not. I assume this might be DNS/Hosts file related, but I am a bit skeptical because other devices connects and at a different hotspot you are able to connect using that address.

Another thing you might want to do is flush DNS, open Command Prompt and enter in:
ipconfig /flushdns

After doing this, try to access Youtube & Facebook normally to see if it allows you.

It's still the same.

The first IP address is for google but facebook is still not available.

I've tried flushing DNS...Not working...
Try resetting the tcp/ip stackand see if that helps.

netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset WINSOCK entries:
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log :Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack.
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
:Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack.
Did you made any changes to the computer or network devices prior to this problem happening?

My guess now would be your network firewall of the router or modem. If you have access to it, then you can configure to turn off the firewall just temporarily to see if that opens up Facebook and Youtube. If it does, then that will confirm my theory and you can try and reconfigure it.
OR
if you don't have access to the modems configuration page, just simply reset it and see if that helps.
