try this please

This is a known problem that is related to the Windows XP Themes and may have something to do with either of the service packs. There are two ways to correct it: First, try opening the Control Panel and click Appearance and Themes. Click "Change the computer's theme." In the Display Properties dialog window, select the Windows XP theme, click Apply and then OK. If this doesn't correct your problem, try this (taken from Windows Knowledgebase support article 823768): Obtain a copy of the shellstyle.dll file from another Windows XP SP1/SP2 computer and then copy the file to the following location on the affected computer: C:\WINDOWS\system32\

If the following file is found in the system32 folder, you can rename the file to Shellstyle.dll: C:\WINDOWS\system32\class_ss.dll

If any of the following files are on the computer, copy the file to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder:

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\NormalColor\Shellstyle.dll

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\Homestead\Shellstyle.dll

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\Metalic\Shellstyle.dll
