Hey,

Still on vacation, but will be buying the camera very soon when im back, so i need some input.

From being referred to this camera on here, i want to know if anyone has any hands-on expirience with it, or some reviews to tell me about the Canon A510.

If you dont like it, what camera under <$200?

Whats a good online camera store? Otherwise i buy off Newegg.com

What card is better, SD or MMC - and anyone have an idea on how many photos a 128mb card will store?

Thanks,
Stevo

Don’t get the MMC card. It isn’t appropriate for most digital cameras. The SD cards are what you need.

The 510 isn’t real fast as far as shutter speed. If you pre-focus by holding the shutter half way until it focuses it is very fast when you push the shutter the rest of the way. Otherwise I think it is a great little camera for the price.

Stop by Wal-Mart and pick up their package with a charger and four NiMH batteries – I think it is under $20.

BuyDig seems to have the best price if you include shipping: http://shopping.com/xPC-PowerShot_A510~S-P~OR-0

I have had my Canon A510 since Dec 04. It takes great pictures and I really like the 4x optical zoom. I keep the digital zoom turned off. It will, according to the display, take 263 pics when set to large(2048x1536) and the normal mode, 133 on large and fine mode and 74 on large and super fine mode on a 128K xD card. I use mine set to large and fine mode. I bought mine at Best Buy for $199.99 in Dec.
