I'm running windows95 osr1100 mhz 28mb ram 1.2gb hard drive I have a pine group sound card and it is installed properly However and I don't think this has anything to do with the problem is that when I install the Game war in heaven for win95 It installs sucessfully but when I restart my computer and use the start up program for it the screen says cannot find msvcrit.dll file and therefor it cant start the game or run it. I checked for msvcrit.dll files and I found I have about 5-6 different files in my system memory running with out any problem. I don't know what to do step by step to get the game to run.

The correct file name is Msvcrt.dll, and there are a number of files that are almost, but not exactly, synonymous.
They're all different ddls, so it's important to know what we are talking about.

The file may be corrupted, missing, or be the incorrect version.

Load your Windows CD-ROM into your drive, go to Start/run and type SFC.

Choose "Extract one file from installation disk", type the exact name of your dll, and have Windows put it back into C:\Windows\System.

Good luck, Tony

I don't believe SFC was included as part of Win95.

You may need to extract the file from DOS.

Navigate to the 'c:\windows\system' directory and enter the command below (If your CD-ROM drive letter is not "d" then substitute with appropriate letter in command):

extract /a /y d:\win95\win95_02.cab msvcrit.dll

P.S. I believe msvcrit.dll is a valid Win95 DLL file.

Strange... I was able to find various references to MSVCRIT.DLL from google.com but none of the links indicate where it comes from, and many led to non existant pages.

Except for this link from M$ Knowledge base (see files listed in Method 2):
Publisher 98

I guess even M$ misspelled it. Figures. :D

I know.
Of course you'll find a reference here or there, but these are just other people who've misspelled it... :D

Proof: Msvcrit.dll: 14 Google hits
Msvcrt.dll: 17,000 hits.

I rest my case...

Incidentally, you'll also find 244 hits for mscvrt.dll, one of them even at Microsoft.com, and 20 for mscvirt.dll and those files don't exist either, according to the Microsoft DLL Help database ...

The possibilities are endless... :D

Gtz.
