Hi,

I have some difficulties in deleting some files and folders.
These files are located in an external hard disk. I negligently turn off the disk while copying in it.
As a result, these files were created with peculiar names like "Édt╔┬jFf.?ô╛Édt╔┬jFf.?ô╛".
I have tried different methods described in different forums or websites.None of them has worked so far.

Have you tried a program such as Eraser?

If that doesn't work, have you enough space to move the good files and format the drive before replacing them?

"Remove on reboot" is a good little program for such problems. After you install the prog all you do is right click on the file and choose remove on reboot and it will do just that.
Try it out if you haven't fixed your problem yet.

Unfortunetaly,none of these solutions have worked. I used ZDelete and Remove on Boot.The problem is that all these sofware need to access thes file I want to delete using there name.But as these names include special symbols, the softwares stop immediately working.The msg is constantly "cannot read file". Obviously, I tried to change the name but no success. And I have no more space where I could copy the rest of the disk before formating everything.
Any other suggestion? Thanks.

I would couple your external hard drive to another computer with sufficient drive-space. Move all the good files, format the drive and replace them.

OR. Can you make a new folder? Then drag & drop them into the folder and then delete the entire folder?
