For reasons explained elsewhere, I need to boot from my installation CD into XP. But it won't do it! CD is set as the secondary boot drive, but no go. Got to DOS prompt and it says D drive is not ready.

So, is this more likely to be a problem with the CD drive, or a problem with the CD ROM? The CD ROM is supposed to be a recovery disk, how can I confirm it is bootable?

The CD drive needs to be set at the first boot device, not the second.
