Hi all, I've been lurking a bit, learning some, trying to do as much on my own, but I seem to be at a stopping point. I'll tell you all what I've done so far, what's still wrong, give a HJT log, and see if you guys can help any more...

I've, of course, had a ton of trouble with spyware invading my computer, as well as with hijacking software messing with settings all around (changing folder permissions, settings, rearranging bookmarks, etc.). So far, to fix the problems, I've run CWShredder, Ad-Aware 6.0, and Spybot, and have removed everything through those programs I could (Just in Ad-Aware I had over 300 components found!). I am still getting a window popping up though even in this forum running in the background that says Ad-Server. I'm sure there is more I can do, so I'd appreciate any more help anyone can give. I'm not computer illiterate, but I am still very much in the learning stages about security issues, but I'm willing to learn a good deal. Thanks a bunch.

BTW, would Norton Internet Security be a good program to invest in to help contain these breaches? I'm sure there are other programs that may be better, but my friend has an extra copy that he'll give me, so since it'll be free, that's the one I'd rather use.

Run hijackthis again and put a checkmark against this entry..
.....then,close all browser and outlook windows and "fix checked"

Use Spybots "imunize" feature.
