In ME, while trying to delete an eps-file from trash, the following message appears: "Can not delete Dc417: no access. The source may be in use." (had to translate from Dutch, so this is probably not the exact message in English) Other files are OK. As I am quite sure that the .eps is not in use: how can I delete this file?

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click System.
Click the Device Manager tab.
Double-click the Disk Drives branch to expand it.
Click your hard disk, and then click Properties.
On the Settings tab, is the box marked that says removable?

If so, uncheck it......

Thank you all! Tony's tip, booting in safe mode did work, so my unwanted eps is deleted. (dankjewel=thanks Tony!)
Rollin'Rog: the file was in the recycle bin, but because Tony's first solution worked, I did not try the second. However, it is a good one to keep in mind. Reboot in safe mode is a lot of work for deleting one eps!
