I dont know what is up with my CD burner but it stopped working awhile ago. It seems like it is unable to recognize CD's. I am not sure if a setting got changed or if it just broke somehow. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much!

R-click My Computer, click properties, click the hardware tab, Device Manager should be first button at the top.
THANKS!!! Which one should I uninstall? BUT I dont ever remember installing either of those which makes me think that they came with the computer... so there would be no way for me to install them again, right?
^^ Not unless you've got the disks or they are free on the internet.
You need to uninstall the drive that actually burns CDs. It's not the Lite-On DVD-ROM you posted information about, so it must be the other one if you've ever successfully burned disks before.

You're only uninstall the device. You're not uninstalling software. Windows will re-detect the device after you restart. This is part of troubleshooting.
okay let me try... Thanks so much for your help!
I found the info on the other program... here it is. Also I have uninstalled the device and rebooted it after I restarted my computer... it still doesnt seem to be working. From the info below, doesnt it seem like I should be able to burn?

don't know if this has been suggested but try a cleaning cd
Well, it's recognized by the system as a CD-R/RW drive, so if it can't write, I'm guessing it's either dirty or broken.
