Can anyone help my with my CD burner... it does not work anymore

2221 Views 28 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  JohnWill
I dont know what is up with my CD burner but it stopped working awhile ago. It seems like it is unable to recognize CD's. I am not sure if a setting got changed or if it just broke somehow. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much!

The drive that you posted the information for is not capable of burning any CDs. Do you have more than one CD-ROM type drive (they're called optical drives)?

To "uninstall" the drive, you go to Device Manager, locate the drive under DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click and choose Uninstall.
You need to uninstall the drive that actually burns CDs. It's not the Lite-On DVD-ROM you posted information about, so it must be the other one if you've ever successfully burned disks before.

You're only uninstall the device. You're not uninstalling software. Windows will re-detect the device after you restart. This is part of troubleshooting.
