Can a failing mouse lock up your keyboard?

I've been running into problems as of late and i'm not quite sure what is wrong. I use a microsoft optical mouse and for some reason it stops working after a little bit of time. No power to the unit at all, red light doesnt come on. Less than a minute after it locks up on me my keyboard locks as well. When I reboot everything is fine for a bit then it happens again. I tried the mouse in the ps/2 port and usb port and same thing happens. I was thinking it might have been the psu that was replaced early last month but I have no clue heh. A normal ball mouse works fine in the system no lock ups as of yet.

Any help is appreciated.

That may be possible Im using a Microsoft optical mouse on one of my systems it works fine, my dad gave it to me it did the same thing on his computer that it's doing on yours the only difference may be that he loaded the software that came with it, I didn't.
