BSOD Page fault in non paged area

Hi,

I've had repeatedly a BSOD with message: Page fault in non paged area.
For the last one I had, the application WhoCrashed gave me this:

On Tue 09/07/2019 22:17:56 your computer crashed or a problem was reported
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\070919-16941-02.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: win32k.sys (0xFFFFF960000522E4)
Bugcheck code: 0x50 (0xFFFFF900C08FB000, 0x1, 0xFFFFF960000522E4, 0x0)
Error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
file path: C:\Windows\system32\win32k.sys
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: מנהל התקן של Win32 מרובה משתמשים
Bug check description: This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in a Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

I do not have installed any hardware recently. I even unplugged the printer.

The crashes are typically caused by trying to open a directory via a shortcut, trying to open some programs via short cuts or trying to paste in Windows Office Word. I also tried to uninstall/reinstall the programs. That did not help. I tried also the usual tricks found on internet: stop automatic paging, check disks for errors (there were a few), disable a suspect driver, run a memory test (it says fine). Did not help either. The BSOD with the same message persists, even though it is hard to predict when it crashes (except for specific programs).

ANY leads would be more than welcome, thanks !

Leo.

Hi, some reasons for Blue Screens
New hardware - Software installed.
Device driver - Video driver - corrupted - faulty.
Faulty Ram - Overheating - Dying hard drive, etc.
======
Post the Minidump files so we can put them through Windows debugging program.
Create a new folder on the desktop and call it dumpfiles [or something similar]
Look in c:\windows\minidump
Copy the last 4 minidump files to that folder.
Close the folder and right click on it and select Send To Compressed [zipped] Folder.
Windows will compress the file and then save the new zipped file in the same location.
Attach the zip folder by using the 'Upload a File' button.
======
Meanwhile run a hard drive test.

What did you use to run the MemTest and did you let it run for at least 8 passes or overnight?

Thanks for your reply.
I saw the general stuff about possible reasons for Blue Screens. Everything mentioned is possible. Although I haven't installed hardware recently, there were several power outages in the neighborhood in the last few weeks (before the Blue Screens) and the computer is second hand.

---

I uploaded the last 4 minidump files.

---

Regarding the MemTest, I used the Default Boot Menu. I let it run a few hours. There was nothing special.

While I check the dump files - I'm away from the internet for most of the day.
Run memtest86
https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/memtest86.html
Download the ISO file then burn to a DVD

Start the Pc using the DVD and run the memory test overnight or for at least 8 passes.
It is best to run a full scan on individual Ram sticks if you can.
Or run the test but if any errors are shown - then remove all sticks of Ram - test each Ram stick one at a time and test them in different slots.

Followup: MachineOwner

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
Invalid system memory was referenced. This cannot be protected by try-except,
it must be protected by a Probe. Typically the address is just plain bad or it
is pointing at freed memory.

Windows debug program saying much the same - Probably caused by : win32k.sys
Also saying 'Could not read faulting driver name'

1. Run the memory test.
2. Run the Hard Drive test - see post # 2
3. Check AMD for updates.
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-131
4. Check for overheating - see post # 2
5. Run System File Checker.
Click on Start - Search - Type cmd
Right click on cmd.exe - select Run as Administrator.
At the Command Prompt window - Type sfc /scannow
Press Enter.
Let it run to completion - but do not close the cmd window.

To save the log file.
Copy and Paste the following in Command Prompt.
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop
\sfcdetails.txt

Press Enter

On your desktop you will see a text file called sfcdetails.txt
It can take 2-3 runs of system file checker for all files to be replaced/repaired.
======
Also, download Security Check by screen317 from.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/securitycheck/
Save it to your Desktop.
Right click the install icon and select "Run as Administrator"
A command Prompt window will open.

Let it scan the Pc - press any key when asked.
It should now open in Notepad.
Copy and Paste the result of the scan in the reply box below.

The saved log will be called checkup.txt.
======
Run all the tests above and report back with all the log files included.
There is no need to quote my replies in your posts - it makes them harder to read.;)

I ran the memory test (9 passes) using the DVD as boot as instructed (memtest86+). Nothing.
I did the System File Cleaner test (file attached).
I ran the security checkup (file attached).

I got a BS when I tried to download the AMD stuff.

I will try again to run as well as the other tests (HDD test, overheating) later today and/or this weekend.

Nothing showing in the System File Cleaner or Security checkup - except Adobe Reader out of Date!
Run the other tests and report back when you are ready.
HDD test: I ran the HDD test from SeaTools for Windows. For some reason, the downloaded file was not recognized as an ISO. So I could not run it from the CD. I ran the program for windows instead. Nothing showed up.

Overheating test (speccy): nothing showed up.

Please instruct how to proceed from now.
When did you last get a blue screen - what were you doing on the pc - playing games, normal surfing the internet, etc?
If it has blue screened - post the minidump files.
To exclude the hard drive as the cause of the problem an external hard drive is the best forward.

Unzip the files and find the ISO file to burn to a DVD.
