What's the exact 7-character service tag number on yours?

89498K1 - it's not recognising on Dell site though - presumably because it was bought in 2008/9.What's the exact 7-character service tag number on yours?
-------------------------------------------------
Yes - XPS 1640 - the M reference before the 1640 is not part of my system although laptop image on Dell site is identical. Service Tag is definitely an 8 not a B.I also got a "not found" on 89498K1, so I decided to see if you made a typo and if one of the 8's is actually the letter B.
8949BK1 is assigned to a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop which was purchased in June 2010.
B9498K1 is "not found".
Do you actually have a Dell Studio XPS M1640 laptop?

Thanks anyway for your time..Considering that laptop is 11 - 12 years old, I wouldn't invest any money in it to get it working again.
Official support for Windows Vista SP2 ended in April 2017, and most modern apps no longer work in it, so it's no longer advisable to use it.
If you're determined to get that laptop working again, I really don't know what to advise you without being there to see it.

Hi guys, been a while since I last posted...I hope you can help me.
I have an old Dell XPS 1640 laptop with Vista SP2 which I have been using which has recently started failing with BSOD during startup - 'page fault in nonpaged area' (0x00000050).
I was able to run some diagnostic checks in boot options & after a Sata Disk Confidence test sucessfully completed read of start, end and random areas of disk an error was reported while completing 'surface scan remainder of media'. Error code reported 0f00:1332.Disk Block xxxxxxxx IRQ did not set in time. Online recommendations seem to suggest I need a replacement disk which is currently WD3200BJKT-75F4T0.
Although I have original Vista installation CD I dont appear to have Vista CD bootdisk from as wanted to try running chkdsk to see if could repair disk I have got an image copy of the disk so hope I will not lose any data. Suggestions please?
Thanks in advance.
is there any way to check the state of the disk if the laptop doesn't fully boot ?Thanks anyway for your time..
